1. What is hair transplantation?

  Hair transplantation is a procedure where in hairs are taken from the donor area which is the occipital area, which is free from the influence of hormones and also the density of hairs are more compared to the frontal area. Thus the hair transplanted will have longer life span.

2. What is Androgenetic Alopecia?

  Androgenetic alopecia or  pattern hair loss is a genetically determined disorder characterized by the gradual conversion of terminal hairs into vellus hairs.

Men present with gradual recession of frontal hairline early in the process, also gradual thinning in the temporal areas producing alteration in the normal hairline.

Female present with diffuse hair loss over the crown, producing gradual thinning of the hairs. There will be widening of the mid-partition, frontal hairline is often preserved.

3.How long does a hair transplant procedure take?

Hair transplantation is a day care procedure it will take total of 6-8 hours, First step of the hair transplantation is to trim the hairs short, then scalp will be cleaned thoroughly.

After the test dose, local anesthesia  is given to the donor area. Then grafts will be harvested from the donor area.

Hairline is marked in the desired pattern, after   local anesthesia multiple slits are created in the recipient area. Grafts are implanted into the recipient area.

4. when will my newly transplanted hair start to grow?

After hair transplantation, transplanted hair start to grow in the first month in the most of the clients. Few hairs may fall off during first month as hairs will be in different phases of hair growth but the hair will grow back.

Hair growth increases by 3 months but significant growth can be observed at the end of 6 months. For complete growth to occur one should wait for the period of one year.

5. Will my HT look completely natural?

7. What are side effects of hair transplantation?

It is done under local anesthesia, so it is free from the adverse effects of general anesthesia. It is painful only while giving local anesthesia injections after that Ht is not painful.

After surgery also post-op pain can be easily managed with the pain killers.

8. How many grafts \ hairs will be needed?

The number of grafts depends on the extent of the hair loss and also expectation of the client regarding density, and area that should be covered.

For frontal & bitemporal area coverage on an average 3500-4000 grafts are required.

For any area on an average 100 grafts are required to cover the area of 1 SQ.cm.

9. What is the recovery / healing time?

 Medically recovery means the wounds are healed, & the client can resume their normal day to day activity.  After HT, recovery is uneventful in most of the cases. The scab which is formed in the donor & recipient area usually falls off by 7-10 days. After 10 days donor area will be completely healed. Remaining hairs at the donor area will grow and cover harvested area. Even recipient area will show hearing by 10 days.

10. Are results of HT permanent?

 In hair transplantation, grafts are harvested from the occipital area which is free from the influence of the hormones.

This hair is resistant to the hair loss which occurs due to hormonal action, they retain their resistance to hair loss even in the new location. So transplanted hairs will lasts for decades which is almost permanent.
